Safeguarding
Assessment |
|
 |
|
| Why
should I have a formal assessment? |
|
| Most
machines are not guarded in accordance with relavent regulations
and standards. And, existing machine guarding may be applied
incorrectly. An assessment will ensure that these regulations,
standards, and product application are being satisfied. |
|
| What
is the assessment process? |
|
Assessments
consist of two parts: Risk Level Identification
and Risk Reduction.
Risk Level Identification
- Identifiying risks and their related hazards associated
with the designed intendeded function of the machine
with respect to operater and maintenance personnel interface.
Risk Reduction
- Implementation of safety measures based on the identified
risk level to achieve compliance with applicable regulations
and standards. |
|
| What
is the advantage of documented machine safeguarding assessment
and risk reduction plan? |
|
| A
documented machine safeguarding assessment provides a
clear plan to reduce risk and achieve compliance with
applicable regulations and standards. The report contains
a comprehensive overview as well as machine-specific risk
reduction recommendations based on the identified level
of risk of the equipment, as used in your facility. It
also communicates the status of your current machine safeguarding
program to all levels of your organization while providing
direction toward improved plant safety. |
